HARDCOVER HEROES Presents: Adventures in Comic Book Binding!

About a year ago while downsizing my collection, I was bitten by the radioactive-binding-bug giving me powers and abilities far beyond those of mortal men... I realized that I had the power to transform my comic book collection into big, beautiful, custom designed hardcover volumes bursting with all of my favorite four-color adventures and thus was the Origin Story a new hobby that combined my favorite things: Comics, Art & Design 

Not only is it amazingly fun but it's allowed me to reduce my collection, get the rest out of the long-boxes onto the bookshelf and have them at arms reach easily accessible in the event of a those frequent comics withdrawal emergencies.

I just love designing these books and the freedom to choose the comics I want in them and adding extras like Cover galleries is just awesome. I'm not a "collector", I'm a fan and I would never sell these comics anyway, so their "monetary value" is irrelevant. Having a unique, one-of-a-kind custom bound volume of my favorite comics is worth much more to me than a box of comics in bags in the basement.

I realize many "collectors" will gasp in horror feeling the comics have been "destroyed" but they've just been transformed into a different format complete with Letters Pages, Ads and Back Covers (most of the time), and are on the original newsprint and not glossy paper or garishly re-colored.

Hopefully, Comic Binding Fans will enjoy viewing them and Comic Collector's won't pass out after witnessing all the carnage of precious collectibles.
I'm currently working on a few binds so check back once in a while as I'll add more when I can.

MAJOR BUMMER

FOR SOME REASON I ALWAYS LIKED THIS SERIES, REALLY LIKED THE ART STYLE AND THE GOOFY STORYLINE. AND EVEN THOUGH IT WAS FINALLY RELEASED AS A TRADE PAPERBACK, I HAD THE COMIS SO DECIDED TO FINALLY BIND IT. 

THE FRONT COVER IS KIND OF A MISH-MASH OF IMAGES AND THE BACK COVER IS JUST AN IMAGE THAT SEEMED PERFECT... DIDN'T ADD ANY EXTRAS THOUGH.. AND ONE OF THE FUN THINGS ABOUT BINDING COMICS IS THAT YOU GET TO INCLUDE THE LETTERS PAGES AND I WROTE A FAN-LETTER THAT GOT PUBLISHED SO IT'S INCLUDED IN THE BIND

THIS WAS THE FIRST BIND I DID WHERE I DIDN'T BIND THE COMICS,  I BOUND THE 6-TRADE PAPERBACKS THAT WERE RELEASED (which were about 5-6 issues each). I ALSO REMOVED THE FRONT AND BACK COVERS AND SCANNED THEM BECAUSE THEY WERE MUCH HEAVIER THAN THE REST OF THE PAPER IN THE BOOKS.

DIDN'T DO MUCH DESIGN WORK OR EXTRAS ON THIS BIND. BASICALLY JUST TOOK THE COVER AND ADDED SOME TEXT AND THE SAME FOR THE BACK COVER

I REALLY LOVED THIS SERIES. IT'S ONE OF MY ALL-TIME FAVORITES. LOVED THE WRITING AS WELL AS THE ART. THOUGHT IT WAS A GREAT COMBINATION

THERE WERE SO MANY GREAT COVERS IN THIS SERIES THAT I HAD SUCH A HARD TIME DECIDING WHICH ONES TO USE THAT I FINALLY DECIDED IT WOULD LOOK MUCH COOLER TO GO WITH A PATTERN TAKEN FROM THE FIRST ISSUE. 

MANY OF THE COVERS WERE SO PSYCHEDELIC THAT I FELT IT WOULD BE OVERWHELMING WITH ALL THE COLORS AND DECIDED TO GO IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION AND DO SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT FROM ANY OF THE OTHER BINDS I'D DONE BEFORE.
